Preface

A long way has been traveled since the invention of the legendary Volta battery and after liquid accumulators, gel ones, to nickel cadmium, Nickel Metal Idro, to lithium, here is the appearance on the market of Lithium Polymer accumulators, the so-called Li-Poly or more familiarly LiPo.

The first accumulators of the family were those with lithium ions, appeared in the consumer electronics trade only in 1996 because they were a Soviet invention under military secrecy of which the US military industrial complex also possessed the secrets. Other developments followed from lithium ion accumulators which led to new products such as Lipo and Life.

History

Gilbert N. Lewis made the first lithium batteries in 1912 while in the early seventies the commercial ones saw the light. Lithium-ion batteries needed another twenty years of development before they were safe enough to be used en masse on the market. The first commercial version was created by Sony in 1991, following research by a team led by John B. Goodenough
